It was a hard fought draw for the Celts on Saturday afternoon against a dogged Oliver Bond Celtic which was our third time to play the Dublin side this season. The two previous encounters had seen 10 goals scored between both teams which set us up for another cracking occasion in the Bawnogues.Oliver Bond got off to a fast start and at times Kilcock struggled to get the grips with the visitors intensity, as they were first to every ball. This pressure paid off, as Oliver bond went in with a deserved two goal lead at half time. The Celts looked for a reaction in the second half and made a change with Shane Fitzgerald coming on for his second appearance since his return to the club.

In the second half the Celts stepped it up a gear and controlled the ball a lot better than they had done in the first half. Kilcock started creating more chances with Mike Brown & Jack Foley starting to add some quality to the game creating opportunities for Shane Fitzgerald and Calvin Flanagan, however, against the run of play the Oliver Bond winger, who caused problems for the hosts all day, should of sealed the game but couldn't take the opportunity. Despite being down to 10 men and two goals down with the clock ticking, Kilcock kept applying pressure and this finally paid off as Lee Loughnane broke down the left and got into the box winning a penalty for the Celts. Shane Fitzgerald stepped up and missed the target maintaining Oliver Bonds two goal lead. In the final quarter of the game, Kilcock continued to play the better football and with pressure building it was only a matter of time before Kilcock got what they deserved, when Oliver bond gave a free kick away on the edge of the box. Shane Fitzgerald stepped up to try and rectify the penalty miss from earlier and that he did as Shane put the ball into the top right corner to halve the deficit. Kilcock now had a lifeline and continued to press for the equaliser when substitute Eoin Hannigan won a free kick out wide in the final seconds of the game. Shane Fitzgerald once again hit the free kick with power into the box and with the luck of a deflection seen the ball hit the back of the net to level the score at 2-2 at the final kick of the game. Ballyoulster is up next for the Saturday side in a North Kildare derby next Saturday.
